The heritage restaurants of Old Town’s Plaza del Pasado, are presenting special menu items in honor of the Art Festival. Chef Jose Santiago and his able crew of food artisans have assembled a delectable ensemble of tasty meals for lunch or dinner—just for the weekend. Chef Jose acknowledges the chance to be creative, “Those of us behind the grill relish the time to present unique tastes to our guests. The art festival gives us a perfect opportunity to showcase the things we can do with special menu items. We look forward to seeing our guests enjoy the experience.”
Each ensemble is a package of appetizer, entrée, and dessert—specially prepared for art festival patrons.
At Casa de Reyes, the ensemble features a Shrimp & Mango Ceviche, Sauté shrimp with blue corn polenta, black bean-corn relish with jalapeno-corn sauce, and Banana cheesecake chimichanga with strawberry sauce. |

One heritage restaurants of Old Town’s Plaza del Pasado, is the famous Cosmopolitan, one of the first hotels in San Diego. The Cosmo will feature a Shrimp & Crab Cocktail, griddle-seared salmon filet with saffron potatoes, prickly pear sauce and fried spinach and it finishes with a flourish with Banana cheesecake chimichanga with bananas foster. The Cosmopolitan will also host the Festival’s Wine Tasting—vintners from Central and South America, Mexico, Spain, and California will be on hand for the tasting. There will be free appetizers, live music, and four tastings for $15.
